Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that this cooperation must be based on goodwill, mutual benefit, and fairness.

“We must firmly uphold goodwill and harmony, foster mutually beneficial cooperation, continue institutional development, uphold justice and integrity, and build cross-generational friendships,” Wang Yi declared in his speech.

As quoted by englishcctv.com on Monday (28 April), Wang Yi also criticised US protectionist policies, arguing that they harm other nations.

“The United States, acting unilaterally, has imposed arbitrary tariffs on more than 180 countries, violating their legitimate rights and interests,” Wang emphasised.

Wang further stated that China is taking firm measures to protect its national interests while also safeguarding global order.

“China is taking necessary countermeasures, not only to defend its own rights but also to maintain international rules and justice,” he remarked.

The meeting was attended by foreign ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with Turkmenistan’s ambassador to China.

They expressed support for the Belt and Road Initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to combating the ‘three evil forces’—terrorism, extremism, and separatism.

All parties also emphasised that China serves as a stabilising force amid global uncertainty. “We support international trade and reject unilateral protectionist practices,” stated a joint declaration from the participants.

The press release from the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Central Asian countries to expanding cooperation with China in infrastructure, digitalisation, green energy, and food security.
